HGT Showcases T2400 Sanger Platform and PALACE at FAOBMB 2026 in Hong Kong

NINGBO, China, August 2026 — Health Gene Technologies (HGT) featured its T2400 Sanger sequencing system at the 32nd Congress of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB 2026), held Aug. 10–13 at the University of Hong Kong. The system was shown at the booth of HGT's strategic partner, GeneMind, where it held steady interest across the four-day event.


A 24-capillary Sanger platform

The T2400 is a 24-capillary Sanger sequencer with 8 fluorescence channels, built for both sequencing and fragment analysis. As the recognized gold standard in first-generation sequencing, it pulled researchers to the booth from opening day. In side-by-side review, attendees kept landing on the same two metrics — throughput efficiency and data accuracy — as the ones where the platform ranks at the top of today's Sanger offerings.

Across genetic disease diagnosis, gene mutation screening, drug target screening, and pathogen identification, the system's stable output drew repeat attention. Over four days of live demonstrations, HGT said, the gold standard was not only on display — it was re-validated, again and again.


PALACE: 109 respiratory pathogens, one tube, about 100 minutes

HGT also presented PALACE (Probe Annihilation Length Alignment Capillary Electrophoresis), a respiratory-pathogen test that drew its own share of discussion. In a single reaction tube, one sample returns identification of 109 respiratory pathogens in about 100 minutes. The panel covers common viruses, gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, atypical pathogens, and drug-resistance genes, with sensitivity down to 150 copies/mL.

The workflow needs no bioinformatics analysis and reports automatically, returning same-day results from extraction through report. It runs on capillary electrophoresis platforms including the T2400 and the ABI 3500 series.

Several pathogen researchers told HGT the combination — high throughput, high sensitivity, minimal hands-on time — lines up with the respiratory pathogen-spectrum work they are advancing. PALACE, HGT said, was built for exactly that: every test a starting point for the next study. 

 

Echoing the congress theme

From liquid biopsy and emerging microbes to tumor drug resistance and single-cell omics, FAOBMB 2026 put the frontier of molecular biology on its podiums, with pioneers from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. A consistent view ran through the program: however far upstream the work travels — by NGS or other omics — verification of gene variants, viral typing, and tumor or drug-resistance targets still routes back to Sanger sequencing.

That is the point HGT carried to Hong Kong. Whether it is the precise Sanger sequencing of the T2400 or PALACE's high-throughput pathogen work, the company's stance is that every more precise test moves the life sciences one step deeper.

HGT said it will keep working with partners such as GeneMind to bring the platform to researchers in more markets.
